WASHINGTON D.C – During his campaign stop in Alabama this week, Donald Trump introduced his idea to reduce Black History, which normally runs during February to just one week. In Trump’s new plan, he says the second week of February could be designated for the holiday.
Trump followed by arguing that a month given to commemorate the suffering of black people is “just too long”. He said that black slavery and race struggle does not deserve an entire month of recognition and the time could be better used. He then mentioned plans to introduce a new holiday to appreciate white people that he wishes to run the week before new Black History week.
In an interview following his speech, he commented that Black History month is a denial of white existence and white achievement and that although he agrees that Black history must be acknowledged so does the history of other races. “If blacks deserve a month to remember their struggle, a year is required to show the achievement of white people.” Since the speech, polls show that his supporters agree with the bold move. When some of his supporters were interviewed, some commented about their excitement for the introduction of the new holiday.
